Has January always been this long?

I basically took the month of January off and gave myself a break from some of my more ambitious goals and studies. During this time I kept my practice alive in other ways.

I found a lot of joy in more illustrative traditional works. I got really into painting frogs and was having so much, I brought myself a couple of new marker sets that I’m really excited to try out <3

I also participated in my first art show since High School this month! It was really exciting and I’m looking forward to being more active in my local art scene. It can be intimidating sometimes, but I do think it’s worth it to put ourselves out there.

I also did a lot of reflecting and fantasizing this month about what I want for myself and my practice in the spring. It’s hard for me to picture a future where this snow has melted, but I know it’s coming. My New Year’s resolutions for 2025 were so simple: i want to have a poet’s soul and a painter’s hands.
